What is Progesterone?

Progesterone and the brand name Prometrium are medications used to replace the natural female hormone progesterone produced by your body. This medication is used to restore natural menstrual periods for women who are not pregnant and have not yet reached menopause whose periods have stopped for several months due to a lack of progesterone in the body often because of amenorrhea.
